Physiotherapy

Sports & Spinal

Physiotherapist’s at SSPC are involved in treating sporting injuries both in athletes competing at an elite level and athletes competing socially or in weekend sport. We treat a variety of sporting injuries ranging from soft tissue sprains and strains to complex biomechanical problems affecting multiple areas.

SSPC has a strong involvement in a variety of sports such as football, athletics, soccer, netball, basketball, cricket, hockey and many many more. See our sponsorship page for further details.

At SSPC we understand the importance that sport can play in an athletes life, even at social level. Therefore it is our aim to have our patients return to a pre-injury level of health and fitness as soon as possible. Rest alone is not sufficient to achieve this aim, because if athletes just rest their injuries rather than rehabilitate them, the possibility of re-injury is much higher. Our Physio’s at SSPC take a proactive rehabilitation approach to every sports injury aiming to reduce the likelihood of re-occurrence.

Acute and Chronic back care

Neck pain and low back pain form a large percentage of problems seen at SSPC. Due to our lifestyles many of us are pre-disposed to problems with our necks and backs.

Our physio’s at SSPC take a proactive and evidence based approach to the treatment of spinal dysfunction using techniques that have been substantiated by current research. Our physio’s have special interest in a variety of techniques such as:

  • McKenzie Method
  • Maitland Method
  • Mulligan Method
  • Jull and Richardson Method (Lumbar Stabilisation)
  • Pilates Method

Rather than recipe treat, our physio’s incorporate the most appropriate aspects of each of these techniques to the benefit of patient outcomes.
